Supporting our Craft

The Plumbers’ Company is one of the most ancient City of London Livery Companies, and has served the City for over 650 years.

We continue to strongly support the craft of plumbing and the associated industries, including the conservation of our great heritage.

The support of education at all levels is a key part of this work.

Plumbing is a live and advancing craft that is an essential requirement in modern society.

Certification

The Company has a leading role in supporting the Livery Companies Skills Council in celebrating career development by recognising excellence in achievement through the Apprentice, Journeyman and Master Certificates.

Awards

The company offers a variety of awards to recognise exceptional work by trainees in the industry and the Armed Forces.

Financial Assistance

Bursaries provided by the Company are for student plumbers who would benefit from financial assistance as a direct result of progressing from NVQ Level 2 MES (Plumbing) to undertake NVQ Level 3 MES (Plumbing).

Our Heritage

Our Plumbing Museum Workshop Trust at Amberley (previously in the Court Barn at The Weald & Downland Museum, Singleton, which incidentally is now the “studio” for “The Repair Shop” programme on BBC1) continues to demonstrate and teach the ancient skill of lead casting, an important skill in the maintenance of plumbing leadwork and decorative leadwork for our historic buildings.
