Bursaries

Bursaries are provided by the Company for student plumbers who would benefit from financial assistance as a direct result of completing their third year of the Trailblazer apprenticeship, or who are progressing from Level 2 MES (Plumbing) to undertake Level 3 MES (Plumbing) or equivalent.

L-R Daisy Turner, Bursary Winner 2023; Master Paul Nash; Summer Gee-Fitzmaurice, Bursary Winner 2023

Daisy and Summer were successful recipients of our Bursaries in our 2023 competition, and received their certificates at the Annual Lecture. They both attended the Installer Show held on 27th – 29th June 2023 at the NEC Birmingham, and we took the opportunity to take this picture of them with the Master Paul Nash.

Bursary Sponsor – Monument Tools

The Bursaries are only possible because of the generous sponsorship provided by Monument Tools. Monument Tools is one of the leading British Tool Manufacturers of professional quality plumbing tools. Each year up to 6 students are awarded up to £1,000 worth of tools, which is invaluable to them in their early careers.

The Monument brand is over 90 years old, and the company, which is still owned and managed by the Collier family now in its 5th generation, continues to invest in the latest technology. The products manufactured range from small pipe cutters up to £1,000 manhole cover lifters.

Monument Tools is one of the largest specialist hand tools manufacturers in Europe, both designing and manufacturing tools for Plumbing, Roofing, and Drainage under the Monument brand, via Private Label and OEM.

Nic Drew, Monument’s Business Development Manager explains:

Supporting the bursaries is one of the best aspects of my role. It’s great to see the difference our tools can make to those starting out and to see the enthusiasm these students have for their chosen profession. It’s really important too for the wider industry to play their part encouraging the next generation, so we can rise to the challenge of climate change and delivering net zero.

Applying for a Bursary

Students are encouraged to apply using the online application form below, but must have a reference from their lecturer or employer.

Professional bodies, training providers, or employers are encouraged to support students who, in their opinion, meet the criteria and would therefore merit consideration as possible recipients of a Bursary.

The Company annually considers Bursaries of up to £1,000 for up to 6 students of plumbing, which is awarded in vouchers for tools and equipment.

A Bursary shall not be used to offset any course fees provided by an employer.
