Company News From the Master

Says Master David Adams:

I am delighted that Sarah Mukherjee will be our principal guest speaker at the Summer Festival. Her focus on developing capability in the arenas of sustainability and environmental protection, both in the UK and overseas, fit closely with our ‘green plumbing’ challenge to reduce energy consumption and lessen the industry’s carbon footprint everywhere.

Sarah Mukherjee MBE is the CEO of IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment) a professional body that develops the skills of environment and sustainability professionals, and helps businesses handle the challenges of climate, resource, energy, and skills.

IEMA is committed to improving the confidence and performance of all professionals in this field. It does this by providing resources, knowledge and research plus high-quality training and qualifications, and believes that its members, working together, can change perceptions about the relevance and importance of sustainability as a progressive force for good.

Since joining IEMA, Sarah has been instrumental in implementing a Diverse Sustainability Initiative (DSI) strategy.

Previously, Sarah was the BBC Environment Correspondent, presenting on national and international radio and television, and winning awards for her work across the world.

Since leaving the Corporation, Sarah has held leadership roles in utilities and agriculture. She was a panel member for the 2022 National Parks and AONBs Review, led by Julian Glover, and sat on the National Food Strategy Advisory Panel. She is co-chair of the Natural England Landscape Advisory Panel, as well as a non-executive Director on the board of the Environment Agency.

In 2021, Sarah was awarded an MBE for her services to agriculture and farmer well-being.

Sarah has been a judge for the ‘Campaign for Real Ale’ and a rugby reporter, and she continues to enjoy both rugby and beer! She is also a runner, a yoga addict, and a practitioner of martial arts.

Sarah’s husband, Dan Archer, will accompany her to the Summer Festival.
