At the January 2023 meeting of the Court at the RAF Club, the Master was pleased to announce that the next recipient of the St Michael Medallion, would be Past Master Professor Rodney Cartwright, which was warmly applauded by the Court.

The St Michael Medallion, along with a Certificate, was presented to Professor Rodney Cartwright by Past Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Dr Sir Andrew Palmer, acting as the Lord Mayor Locum Tenens at the 2023 Annual Banquet of the Plumbers’ Company.

The St Michael Medallion is the highest award given by the Company, and was created by the Court in 1951, to reward distinguished service in plumbing. It is limited to those who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of plumbing in the widest sense. The award is therefore, in a sense, a lifetime achievement award and is made only in exceptional circumstances, not every year.

Only 31 St Michael Medallions have been awarded to individuals since 1951. See how the Company recognises and rewards excellence and achievement through its certification and awards.

The Medallion is engraved with the name of the awardee, and the date awarded:

Recipients of the award are entitled to wear a Medallion Jewel at Livery functions:
