Plumbers show their mettle at the Inter-Livery Charity Clay Shoot
On 15th May 2024, the Plumbers’ team of Liverymen Jamie Fisher, Simon and Penny Malik, and Upper Warden Charles Brooks represented the Company at the Inter-Livery Charity Clay Shoot held at the West London Shooting School (WLSS), Northolt, Middlesex.
The Shoot welcomed 68 Livery Company teams, and a further 28 non-Livery teams comprising in all 412 competitors shooting on one of 2 days of this 2-day event.
It’s a mammoth logistical exercise superbly organised by Richard Ferrand of the Fishmongers, and Chris Parr of the Environmental Cleaners, with Mark Heath and his team from at WLSS.
A warming breakfast started the day, before shooting clays over 14 different stands, followed by a hog roast lunch.
This year we were again blessed with a sunny and warm day.
Now to the results!
- Jamie and Simon were our top individual performers finishing with 54 birds each out of 75, and being placed equal 57th (ex 412);
- Penny came 15th out of 31 women competitors;
- The Plumbers’ team came 24th in the Livery Company Teams match (ex 68 teams) and 41st overall (ex 103 teams) – definitely an improvement on our 2023 results;
- The Watermen A, the Gunmakers C, and the Grocers A teams filled the top three spots.
The day was about mixing and meeting with other Liverymen, raising funds for charity, this year’s beneficiary being the National Gamekeepers Organisation, being competitive, and having fun in a safe environment.
Next year’s event will be held on 14th and 15th May 2025. If any Plumbers are interested in making up a second or even third team in 2025, please get in touch with Jamie Fisher jamie.fisher@monument-tools.com.
