Plumbers of the Future Compete at HIP Learner of the Year
On Tuesday, 4th February, the next generation of plumbing professionals put their skills to the test at the HIP Learner of the Year competition for the South East, held at Aldershot College.

Amongst those attending was Liveryman Jason Clark, representing the Plumbers’ Company, who praised the talent and dedication of the young competitors.
A event highlight of the event was celebrating HIP Learner of the Year 2024, Daisy Turner, pictured above alongside Jason and Alanna Impey, Digital & Marketing Manager at CIPHE.
Reflecting on his own journey as a plumbing and heating apprentice in the 1980s, Jason recognises the challenges these learners face, but also highlighted the incredible support now available to them.
The encouragement offered to these students—not only from our great Livery Company but also from the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE), colleges, manufacturers, and other sponsors is overwhelming. This is something that was sadly not available during my time as an apprentice.
The competition serves as a platform for plumbing students to showcase their technical abilities, whilst gaining exposure to industry leaders and potential employers. With growing backing from organisations such as the Plumbers’ Copmpany, the event plays a vital role in raising standards and inspiring the next generation of plumbing and heating professionals.
Jason extended a call to action, urging industry professionals to support these learners by attending future events and representing the Company.
As we say: “there is always more to do to improve our industry” but we are making progress and will continue to do so with the wealth of encouragement, knowledge, and support available. If you can help by attending these events and being an advocate, please contact me via the Clerk.”
Huge congratulations to all competitors and a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in making this event such a success! Their success and dedication reflect the promising future of the industry.
See how else the Company supports our craft.
