Plumbers’ Golf Society – Chairman’s Trip to Morley Hayes
The PGS Chairman, Upper Warden Paul Nash, organised a two-day trip to the Morley Hayes Golf Hotel in the glorious Derbyshire Dales.
Set in beautiful countryside, the four-star complex offers fabulous short breaks. Ten golfers and two partners enjoyed two days of golf or sightseeing (Chatsworth and Hardwick Hall are both close by) and a sumptuous dinner in a private dining room. We were also delighted to help Liveryman Don Munro celebrate his 90th birthday.

He completed 25 holes over the two days and won the prize for nearest the pin on the first par 3 on day one. A splendid achievement that we all hope we can emulate – in a few years time! Well done Don. He was secretary of the golf society for many years and now our ‘special advisor’, so this was a particularly special ‘thank you’ and ‘congratulations’ to him. We also gave a big thank you to Liveryman Trevor Wilson, who sadly had to pull-out at the last minute, but donated his deposit to pay for all the nearest-the-pin prizes. Very many thanks Trevor for you extremely kind generosity.

Where will we go next year? Meanwhile, our next event is the prestigious Inter-Livery Horners’ Trophy at Ashridge Golf Club, which we won in 2018. We have two teams entered; good luck to them.
