Plumbers’ Golf Society 2024 Spring Meeting at Wildernesse Golf Club

Golf Society News

With unprecedented levels of rain over the winter, our Plumbers’ Golf Society (PGS) Spring Meeting at Wildernesse GC was in doubt with 48 hours to go! However, the fantastic greens team at Wildernesse (near Seal in Kent) delivered, and 14 Plumbers and guests were able to play our Spring Meeting on 11th April 2024.

The course was in amazingly good condition, and the greens were true and speedy.

After a bacon roll and a cup of tea or coffee, we set out in surprisingly warm weather and at times even the sun appeared. A day of promise on one of Kent’s finest courses was on! Not long (6,000 yards) but tree-lined and tricky. Playing in 3 handicap divisions, our Society Secretary David Hannam had us using the Golf Gamebook app to record our scores, which meant that a Leaderboard was visible for those that like to know where they stand during the round (i.e.David Hannam!).

There were nearest the pins on the four par 3s and the sharpshooters winning the prizes were our Society Chairman, Past Master Paul Nash; our Society Treasurer, Tony Peters; our 3 time Plumbers’ Ladle champion, Graham Setterfield (almost a Hole in One) and Simon Harden, a guest player. Well played all!

The ebb and flow of golf saw players moving up and down the leaderboard throughout the round with tight finishes in all 3 handicap divisions.

Congratulations to:

Division 3 – Winner Barrie Corfield, see here receiving his prize from Chairman Paul Nash: (Runner-up Trevor Wilson.)

Division 2 – Winner Richard Harvey, seen here receiving his prize from the Chairman: (Runner-up Luke Peters.)

Division 1 – Winner David Hannam, with the best stableford score of the day with 39 points, seen here with the Chairman: (Runner-up Tony Peters.)

A great day out having fun with friends was enjoyed by all, and topped off by a splendid presentation lunch, which was a highlight of the day as always! Truly the friendliest of golf societies!

Lunch!

Our thanks to Mike Bush and all the team at Wildernesse GC, who once again looked after us so well and presented their course in great condition bearing in mind the recent weather.

We now move into a run of Inter-Livery golfing events.
