There are many buildings in the City of London that have risen from the bomb sites of the Second World War and some of our members will have worked on them. Past Steward John Carnaby has sent us a short history on one of those on which he worked, Austral House.
The Lord Mayor, Alderman William Russell and Sheriffs, Alderman Professor Michael Mainelli and Christopher Hayward, will serve an additional year because of the impact of the coronavirus outbreak. Arrangements for the re-election of the Lord Mayor will be published in due course. Subject to confirmation, it is thought that the Sheriffs can be extended in office and that the election on 24 June will be cancelled. Full details are given in their press release.
