On 11th March (World Plumbing Day), the Master and Clerk attended Mansion House for a special ceremony for the Master Certificate Scheme and City & Guilds Livery Company Prizes, organised by the Livery Companies Skills Council (LCSC) and The City & Guilds of London Institute.

This year, eighteen Livery Companies, including the Worshipful Company of Plumbers, took part in the programme, and many Livery Masters were present to issue awards for high performance in their fields, reflecting the established status of this important annual event:

On behalf of the Company, in the presence of the Lord Mayor Alderman Professor Michael Mainelli, the Master presented our prestigious Master Plumber Certificates to Nigel Baldwin and Adrian Liddell:

L-R: The Master, Nigel Baldwin, The Lord Mayor
L-R: The Master, Adrian Liddell, The Lord Mayor

The Company also awarded City & Guilds Professional Recognition Awards to Conna Green and Ryan Moore for Licentiateship (LCGI) – level 4 in Leadership and Management.

Our warm congratulations to them all!

The Worshipful Company of Plumbers recognises and rewards excellence and achievement through its awards and certification.

The Master Certificate Scheme is designed to encourage career progression in areas of skills identified with City of London Livery Companies. Through this initiative, they are acting in partnership with City & Guilds of London Institute to encourage the pursuit of excellence, invocational education, and training. Master Certificates were first introduced in 2001. The Master Plumber Certificate was soon followed by similar programmes. The model framework was adopted by the Construction Liveries Group (CLG) and became the pattern for further development of the Scheme. However, the principles involved apply to any sector and, in2007, the CLG joined forces with the Livery Companies Skills Council (LCSC) in order to advance the concept within the wider Livery movement.

The Professional Recognition Awards have been developed for those at the highest professional levels within their chosen careers. The awards are NQF (National Qualifications Framework) accredited qualifications, which enable candidates to demonstrate their knowledge and skills within any sector or role. Those achieving these awards will be entitled to use an appropriate, internationally recognised post-nominal such as LCGI, and can also help candidates working towards higher level qualification.
