The event was originally inaugurated as a Master Plumbers’ Award ceremony by one of our Past Masters, Geoff Marsh. It rewarded and recognised plumbers progressing through their training and careers with the presentation of the Apprentice, Journeyman and Master Plumber Certificate to the best candidates each year. The event was organised and coordinated by our colleagues in the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE). Many other livery companies have now adopted this annual award process and the event has has grown into the pan-livery annual ceremony it now is, sponsored by CGLI.
