The campaign aims to reduce the risk of lead contamination in drinking water, particularly protecting the health of children, asking all plumbers and installers to pledge to only carry and use lead-free solder, and encouraging consumers to ask their installer which solder they are using.

Court Assistant Julie Spinks, Director of WaterSafe, introduced the launch and presented Marcus Rink, Drinking Water Inspectorate, who spoke on trends and regulation of lead solder in drinking water, which was followed by the presentation of case studies of lead solder in homes, businesses, schools and public buildings by water companies Severn Trent Water and Anglian Water.

Lincoln College’s CEO, Mark Locking, and Vice-President Paul Gregory, who is in charge of plumbing skills learning, also spoke about Lincoln College and Further Education.

Afterwards there was a tour of the plumbing facilities at the College.

Charles Brooks, Julie Spinks, and Liveryman Geoff Westall represented the Company at the launch; Charles and Geoff simultaneously represented CIPHE (the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering) in their roles as trustees.
