Thames River Cruise, Cutty Sark Visit & Lunch
The Master and Mistress invite you join them for a nautical day out on, and by, the Thames on Thursday 19 May 2022.
The Thames has been the lifeblood of the City since Roman times, and what better way to appreciate its splendour than a triple helping of boats, each very different from the others. We start by gathering at the London Eye pier on the South Bank by the old County Hall from 9.45am to embark on a leisurely sightseeing cruise down river to Greenwich. The 10.10 sailing will take in all the major landmarks on the way and give us a fascinating insight into the familiar buildings and monuments that we normally just walk by. Arriving at Greenwich Pier an hour later, we walk directly across to the Cutty Sark for a tour of this majestic tea clipper, once the fastest ship of its type.
Lovingly restored after a major fire in 2007, this amazing ship and it’s visitor centre will give us terrific insight into the tea trade and what life was like on board for the 110 days to Shanghai and back. At 1.30, our third ‘boat’ is lunch at The Yacht Tavern, a ten-minute walk away across the grounds of the Royal Naval College. We have taken over the entire side dining area of this friendly, welcoming pub, with it’s river views, delicious food and fine beers. We have arranged for 2 courses and a drink to be included – we will ask for menu choices nearer the time. After lunch you are free to explore more of Greenwich or make your way back home via rail, DLR or TfL riverboat services (our tour tickets are one way only). The price for the Thames tour, Cutty Sark ticket and lunch is just £65.00 per person. We know this will be a popular event, but numbers are limited to just 28 so please book up early. There will be a waiting list to ensure as many people who’d like to come can do so. The Master and Mistress look forward to seeing you on the water.
