Summer Festival 2023
The Master, Paul Nash and his Consort, Sue, invite you to join them for the annual Summer Festival dinner, making a welcome return to Apothecaries’ Hall.
The evening will commence at 6.30 pm with a Champagne reception in the courtyard (weather permitting), and the opportunity to have your photograph taken with your guests before dinner. Carriages will be at 10:30pm.
We are guests of the Apothecaries’ Company, among the largest of the Liveries, ranking 58th in the order of precedence.
Apothecaries’ Hall is the oldest extant livery hall in the City of London with elements dating back to the 13th century Dominican priory of Black Friars although essentially dating from 1672, most of the original being destroyed in the Great Fire. The Hall is in Black Friars Lane, EC4V 6ER. The nearest tube station is Blackfriars.
We are delighted that our principal guest and speaker will be the award-winning author, Tom Chivers. His book ‘London Clay: Journeys in the Deep City’ follows “hidden pathways, lost islands and geographical mysteries that burst up through the pavement and bubble to the surface of our streets”. He has presented on Radio 4, has collaborated with the climate arts organization Cape Farewell and conducts walking tours of London. Music will be provided by Tom Wakeley and singer friends providing us with some light-hearted entertainment with at least a hint of cabaret.
The cost of a ticket will be £125 a head.
Dress: Black Tie (Dinner Jacket).
This is always an evening of fun and fellowship, to which all members of the Livery, their partners, and guests will be given a hearty welcome.
