Brigantes’ Breakfast
The 2022 Brigantes’ Breakfast, the Northern lunch for City of London Liverymen and Guests, will be held in the spectacular Grade 1 Tower Ballroom on Blackpool’s seafront on 30 June. It’s open to all Liverymen from all Companies and guests and promises to be a fabulous day.
The Brigantes Breakfast provides the perfect opportunity for Liverymen from all City of London Companies to meet together in the North. Previous venues have included the Royal Armouries in Leeds, St Georges Hall in Liverpool and Cutlers Hall in Sheffield.
Dress code is lounge suits. Badges may be worn. Livery Masters will process into lunch. There is no limit on the number of guests you may invite, and a reduction for bookings of four places or more.
The Reception will commence at 11.45 in the 1300 seater Tower Circus auditorium. Situated immediately below the Ballroom, the Circus first opened in 1894 and still hosts up to three shows a day, though since 1990 without animals.
Following the call to lunch, and to the accompaniment of the Tower’s world famous Wurlitzer organ, we move into the Tower Ballroom with our Principal Guests Alderman and Sheriff Alison Gowman and former Lord Mayor Sir Andrew Parmley.
Our traditional musical interlude this year will feature performances by celebrity professional dancers Erin Boag and Ian Waite who, through their long association with Strictly Come Dancing, are no strangers to the Tower Ballroom.
For those able to arrive early, at 10.15 we shall be in the Tower’s ‘Fifth Floor’ theatre for the 2022 Brigantes Lecture, given this year by TV presenter, entertainer and Liveryman Johnny Ball – ‘A History of Blackpool Comedy’.
And from 17.00, if you can delay your departure, we have been granted a private opportunity, at half price, to travel the 518 ft to the top of the Tower for magnificent views of the Lancashire Coast, Snowdonia and the Lake District.
If you would like to join this rather special event, all the details and booking arrangements, including some excellent accommodation deals, can be found here. The closing date for bookings is Monday 23 May 2022.
