Congratulations to Michael Cooper for OBE
Congratulations to Senior Assistant and Hon. Archivist Michael Cooper who has been awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours List for public service. Michael worked for the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs for 30 years.

Prior to becoming a civil servant, Michael qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse. He has also served as President of the Thames Valley Society of Chartered Accountants, and as Vice President Finance of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.
As well as his work with the Plumbers’ Company, Michael is appointed as parish clerk for St Magnus-the-Martyr, the Company’s church, and has served as Master of the Worshipful Company of Parish Clerks in 2024/25.
Commenting on the award, Michael said:
I’ve been very fortunate during my career to meet so many interesting people and be involved with such a wide range of issues. I became fascinated in the workings of Parliament at an early age, so it was a natural choice to join the Civil Service after qualifying as a chartered accountant in the City. My work took me all around the UK and to 26 out of the 28 EU Member States. It is a wonderful privilege to be recognised with this honour.
Master Charles Brooks, expressed how delighted he is at the award and sent many congratulations to Michael.
