Brigantes Breakfast 2022
The Brigantes, our Liverymen in the North, enjoyed a fabulous day at Blackpool for their 2022 “Brigantes Breakfast” in the stunning Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
The day began with Johnny Ball, Freeman Actuary, Broadcaster, Mathematician and Entertainer giving a lecture on the history of Blackpool comedy, before a reception in the Tower Circus and a sumptuous breakfast in the ballroom.
The principal guests were Alderman and Sheriff Alison Gowman, Alderman Dr Sir Andrew Parmley, Lord Mayor of the City of London in 2016/17, the Rt Rev Julian Henderson, Bishop of Blackburn, Martin Ainscough, High Sheriff of Lancashire and Johnny Ball. We were then given a stunning dancing display by Ian Waite and Erin Boag, of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ fame. The day finished with a trip up the
famous Blackpool Tower, for those with a head for heights! The following morning a number of us were given a very informative presentation and walking tour of the town centre to showcase the work being undertaken to rejuvenate it.
A huge thank you to the Brigantes Committee, which includes our own Past Master Nick Gale, for organising such a great event. The Plumbers were well represented by Master Nick Gale and Kala, Upper Warden Paul Nash and Sue, Renter Warden David Adams and Kathy, PM Steve Hodkinson and Jane, PM Erica Stary and John Brown, Court Assistant Gary Wingrove and Gwen, and of course Nick Gale and Debbie. And the Toastmaster for the event was our very own Beadle, Peter Thompson, who was accompanied by his wife Gillian! Sadly, Liveryman Michael Rooze and Sylvia were unable to join us because of last minute travel difficulties from N Ireland.
