On 19th March 2024, a flush of Plumbers ventured into East London to visit the Museum of the Home in Hoxton. It was a breezy spring day, and thankfully the merest splatter of rain did not dampen our event at this beautiful museum.

On 7th March 2024, David Hamilton, Chair of the Plumbing Museum and Workshop Trust #PMWT alongside members of the Board of Trustees were delighted to welcome the Master Plumber and members of the Horsham Armed Forces & Veterans Breakfast Club to the Workshop at Amberley Museum in West Sussex.

Liveryman Michael Bennett

The Clerk is very sorry to report the death of Liveryman Michael Bennett of Bexleyheath, Kent, at the age of 92.

Michael had been a member of the Livery since 1984, although we have not seen him in recent years.

Our thoughts and condolences go to all members of his family.

Medical Detection Dogs 15th birthday at Clarence House

On 20th February 2024, Master David Adams was honoured to attend a reception, by Her Majesty The Queen, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the charity Medical Detection Dogs, which The Plumbers Charity supports, and was an opportunity for Plum to show off her skills!

New RAF and Army Cadet Affiliations

A note from the Immediate Past Master, Paul Nash: For a number of years now the Worshipful Company of Plumbers has had an affiliation with the Richmond Sea Cadets. During my year as Master, I proposed widening the cadet affiliations to include the RAF and the Army Cadets, which the Court has approved. After discussions with the respective Cadet HQs, I am delighted to report that each new cadet unit has been chosen and I have paid my first visits.

Speaker for 39th Annual Lecture announced: Gareth Owen OBE

The Master is pleased to announce that Gareth Owen OBE, Humanitarian Director, Save the Children UK will be our main Speaker at our 39th Annual Lecture on Monday, 13th May 2024.

Gareth has worked in the Aid Sector for 30 years and for Save the Children since 2002. He trained initially as a civil engineer, which to this day, helps him in his humanitarian work.

Report on the Court Lunch at Mercers’ Hall

On Tuesday, 23rd January 2024, the Company gathered for a  Court Lunch in the magnificent surroundings of Mercers’ Hall.

Liveryman John Collier

It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the death of Liveryman John Collier, who passed away after a short and sudden illness, on 16th January 2024. John was Chairman of Monument Tools Ltd, the 4th generation of his family to be involved in the business.

Thomas Crapper Day – 27th January

One of the most well known names in sanitary history worldwide is, without doubt, Thomas Crapper, the name that always make people smile. So much has been written about him including numerous myths, from whether he actually existed to the false presumption that he invented and produced the first wash down water closet. This brief article on his life is written at this present time, as this 27th January 2024, is the 114th year of his death in 1910.
