United Guilds Service – 27th March 2020
Dear Learned Clerk
On behalf of The Dean of St Paul’s Cathedral and the Chairman of the United Guilds’ Service, it is with great regret that owing to the prevailing nationwide situation regarding the risks of COVID-19, I must convey their joint decision to cancel this year’s United Guilds Service.
In addition to official sources of advice, particular factors that informed this decision included the scale of the event and the potential for restrictions on gatherings and movement over the coming fortnight.  There are no plans to re-schedule the event this year but it is with strong resolve that we shall look forward to our Service in 2021.
St Paul’s remains open for worship and prayer, subject to government and Church of England advice.
